Developing Black and White Film at Home: Your First Kit and First Roll
Develop your first roll of black and white film at home: the small kit, the sequence, and how to read your negatives.
S Let's get you shooting film, and when you're ready, developing it in your own kitchen.
I started on a used Nikon from a flea market and spent my first year confused about why some rolls came back dark. Learning exposure properly changed everything, and learning to develop at home made the hobby affordable again.
I walk beginners through the basics of film: loading a camera, the exposure triangle in plain words, choosing film for Boston’s grey winters and bright summers, and, when you’re curious, setting up to develop black and white at home with a small kit. We’ll talk by call, and you can text me your negatives or scans for feedback.
