Effective Date: [Month Day, Year]. Last Updated: July 13, 2026.
1. Introduction and Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Rekindle (“Rekindle,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you access or use rekindlenow.io, our mobile applications, and the related services that connect people who want to start or restart a hobby (“Rekindlers”) with near-peer practitioners who guide them (“Buddies”) through remote sessions (“Spark Sessions”), and that connect both groups with local hobby shops (“Shops”) (collectively, the “Services”).
This Policy applies to anyone who creates an account, browses the Services, books or provides a Spark Session, or otherwise interacts with Rekindle. It should be read together with our Terms of Service, which governs the contractual terms of using the Services, including payment, cancellation, and dispute resolution. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Services.
2. Definitions Used in This Policy
- Rekindler means a user seeking to start or restart a hobby through the Services.
- Buddy means a user who offers guidance to Rekindlers through Spark Sessions.
- Shop means a local business partner that hosts events, refers Buddies, or otherwise participates in the Services.
- Spark Session means a remote session conducted by phone call or text message, at the Buddy’s preference, between a Rekindler and a Buddy.
- Starter Path means a bundled package of three Spark Sessions.
3. Who We Are
[Rekindle, Inc. / Rekindle LLC], a [State] [corporation / limited liability company] (“Rekindle”), operates the Services. Our mailing address is [Street Address, City, State, ZIP]. You can reach our privacy team at privacy@rekindlenow.io.
4. Eligibility and Age Restrictions
The Services are intended for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Services, whether as a Rekindler, Buddy, or Shop representative.
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 13, or from a minor without appropriate consent, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact privacy@rekindlenow.io.
5. Information We Collect
5.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account and profile information: name, email address, phone number, city or neighborhood, hobby interests, profile photo, and a short bio.
- Buddy information: skills and experience, availability, hobby specialties, and payout details, processed through our payment partner, Stripe. Rekindle does not store full bank account or card numbers.
- Shop information: business name, address, contact person, and details about events or partnerships.
- Payment information: payment is processed by Stripe. Rekindle receives confirmation of payment and limited billing details, such as the last four digits of a card, not your full card number.
- Booking information: session date, time, hobby topic, and any notes provided when scheduling.
- Communications: messages sent through the Services, and the content of Spark Session calls or texts to the extent described in Section 7.
- Subscription information: your plan tier and billing cycle.
- Support requests: information provided when contacting us for help.
5.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device and log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, pages viewed, and timestamps.
- Cookies and similar technologies, described in Section 9.
- Approximate location at the city or neighborhood level, used to match Rekindlers with nearby Buddies and Shops.
5.3 Information From Other Sources
- Confirmation and limited billing data from our payment processor.
- Information Shops provide about event attendance or referrals.
- If we offer social login in the future, basic profile information from that provider.
6. How We Use Information
- Match Rekindlers with suitable Buddies and Shops.
- Process bookings, payments, and Buddy payouts.
- Facilitate Spark Session calls and texts, including the contact masking described in Section 7.
- Provide customer support and resolve disputes.
- Maintain trust and safety, including fraud and abuse prevention.
- Send transactional communications, such as booking confirmations, receipts, and reminders.
- Send marketing communications, which you may opt out of at any time.
- Improve and develop the Services, including through analytics.
- Comply with legal obligations.
- Support planned features such as progress tracking and the Sparky assistant.
Sparky, our planned AI assistant, may use information such as your stated hobby goals and session notes to suggest next steps or resources. Sparky supports the human relationship at the center of Rekindle. It does not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you, such as denying access to the Services.
7. Spark Session Calls and Messages
Spark Sessions happen by phone call or text message, based on the Buddy’s preference. To protect your privacy, Rekindle uses a contact-masking system so that Rekindlers and Buddies connect through platform-generated numbers rather than sharing personal phone numbers directly.
We do not currently record the audio content of Spark Session calls. If we introduce call recording in the future, for example for quality assurance or dispute resolution, we will provide advance notice and obtain the consent of all parties to the call, consistent with Massachusetts law and the law of any other state that requires all-party consent to recording.
We do retain metadata about calls and texts, such as the time and duration of a session, and the content of text messages sent through the Services, in order to provide support, enforce our policies, and resolve disputes.
8. How We Share Information
- With each other: Rekindlers and Buddies see the profile information necessary to complete a Spark Session, such as name, hobby interests, and relevant background. Contact details remain masked as described in Section 7.
- With Shops: Shops may receive limited information, such as event RSVP counts or referral confirmations. Shops do not receive your full account profile or session content unless you separately choose to share it with them.
- With service providers: companies that help us operate the Services, including our payment processor, booking system, hosting infrastructure, communications relay provider, email and text delivery vendors, and analytics providers. These providers may use your information only to perform services for us.
- For legal reasons: to comply with law, respond to legal process, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Rekindle, our users, or the public.
- In a business transfer: if Rekindle is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy or a successor policy.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own cross-context behavioral advertising.
9. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Services, remember your preferences, and understand how the Services are used. This includes essential cookies required for the Services to function, functional cookies that remember settings, and analytics cookies that help us understand usage patterns. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may affect how the Services work.
10. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. After you close your account, we retain certain information for a limited period as needed for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes, and then delete or anonymize it. Payment records are retained as required by applicable financial recordkeeping laws.
11. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption of payment data by our payment processor and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
- Access and correction: you can review and update most account information directly in your account settings, or by contacting us.
- Deletion: you may request deletion of your account and associated personal information, subject to the legal and legitimate business retention needs described in Section 10.
- Marketing opt-out: you can opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any marketing message, or by contacting us. You cannot opt out of transactional messages related to your bookings and account.
- Cookie choices: see Section 9.
